Sewing Pattern Chihuahua Wrap

Materials

* 1/2 yard of fleece fabric * 1/4 yard of contrasting fabric * 1/4 yard of bias tape * Scissors * Measuring tape or ruler * Fabric marker or chalk * Sewing machine * Thread

Instructions

1. Cut two rectangles out of the fleece fabric, each measuring 24 inches by 36 inches. 2. Cut two rectangles out of the contrasting fabric, each measuring 12 inches by 18 inches. 3. Place the two pieces of fleece fabric right sides together and sew around the edges using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Leave a 4-inch opening on one side for turning. 4. Turn the wrap right side out and press. 5. Fold the edges of the opening inward by 1/2 inch and press. 6. Topstitch around the opening using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. 7. Place the two pieces of contrasting fabric right sides together and sew around the edges using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Leave a 2-inch opening on one side for turning. 8. Turn the collar right side out and press. 9. Fold the edges of the opening inward by 1/2 inch and press. 10. Topstitch around the opening using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. 11. Fold the collar in half lengthwise and press. 12. Sew the collar to the wrap by hand or machine, using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. 13. Fold the bias tape in half lengthwise and press. 14. Pin the bias tape around the raw edges of the wrap, folding the ends under by 1 inch. 15. Sew the bias tape in place using a 1/4-inch seam allowance.

Tips

* For a more secure fit, you can add a snap or hook and loop closure to the wrap. * If you don't have any bias tape, you can use strips of fabric cut on the bias. * To make the wrap reversible, use two different fabrics for the front and back.
