Long-Serving Keeper Departs for American Side
Berger Signs Permanent Deal with NJNY Gotham FC
Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the departure of goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger to American side NJNY Gotham FC. The 33-year-old German international has signed a permanent contract with the club.
Berger joined Chelsea in 2019 from Birmingham City and has been a key part of the Blues' success in recent years. She helped the club win the Women's Super League title in 2020 and 2022, as well as the FA Cup in 2021 and 2022.
She also played a significant role in Chelsea's run to the final of the UEFA Women's Champions League in 2021. Berger's departure leaves Chelsea with a void in goal, with the club yet to announce a replacement.
Berger said in a statement: "I've had an amazing time at Chelsea. The club has been incredible to me and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have played here. However, I feel that it's the right time for me to move on and I'm excited for this new challenge at Gotham FC."
